Farmers Market Holds Firefighter Appreciation Night

Firefighters from two counties came out to the Grand Terrace Market night on Nov. 26, to join Farmer's Insurance Agent Walter Figeroa for Firefighter Appreciation Night. Figeroa wanted to give back to the firefighters but struggled with an appropriate form of recognition. After much consideration he decided to donate a toy to Children's Fund for every firefighter that showed up. "As an agent, I specialize in policies for firefighters," explained Figeroa. "Having this special relationship with individuals in this profession, I knew this would be more appealing to those with a naturally giving heart. That night, one fire truck after the next showed up to give back to the community." Jennifer Araiza, executive director of The REC Center and organizer of the farmers market, said, "It is an overwhelming feeling to see so many organizations working together to make a difference in the community. Simply amazing in my eyes." The farmers market runs every Tuesday until Dec. 17, in the Walgreens shopping center. The toy drive is a combined effort of The REC Center, Nissan of San Bernardino, Farmers agent Walter Figueroa and 99.1 KGGI, in support of The Children's Fund's efforts to 'Stuff the Nissan" this holiday season. Bring your new and unwrapped toy to the Farmers Market, Nissan of San Bernardino or tune into 99.1 to find out where the Nissan will be next.
