Robin Wetmore Runs for District 4 Council Seat

Retired City of Moreno Valley employee Robin Wetmore is running to represent District 4, wanting to help the city restore its reputation. “Over the past year I have observed the city deteriorate in terms of image, council actions and professionalism,” Wetmore, a resident of 28 years, said. “For these reasons I am stepping up to the plate to help Moreno Valley return to a prominent place to live, shop and work.” Wetmore spent 27 years with the City of Moreno Valley, serving on the board of the Moreno Valley City Employee’s Association for 13 years and serving as its charter president. She believes her city employment gave her the qualifications to lead in office, with “insight into issues and concerns of residents and city employees,” Wetmore said. “My city employment allowed me to see and participate in the changes that have occurred in improving our city,” Wetmore said, including her support of the construction of the senior center and apartments, the emergency operations center and public safety buildings. If elected, Wetmore wants to redefine the city’s image. “My goal will be to get the City of Moreno Valley away from being the region’s storage unit and become again the region’s destination. I believe that by cleaning up the city’s image we will attract tax revenue business,” Wetmore said. Neighborhood clean-ups and additional recreational programs are other ways to attract residents and visitors, Wetmore shared. Wetmore attended Riverside Community College, receiving an associate’s degree in liberal arts and a bachelor’s degree in business and management. She graduated from the Riverside BluePrint for Diversity, which she credited with providing her the “knowledge to effectively participate as a member of boards and commissions.” “My main goal for the city is to work collectively with the community and city staff to promote the wonderful treasures, history, pride and diversity that is the makeup of Moreno Valley. I would bring positive ideas and support to return the city’s image to what it once was in the past,” Wetmore said. Other District 4 candidates include Weldon Boone, Gwendolyn Cross, Yxstian Gutierrez, Jaime Moreno, Lori Nickel and Wraymond Sawyerr.
