Endless Boutique Brings Diabetes Outreach

August 10th, at the Norton Younglove Community Center located in Highgrove, various vendors from San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties came to participate in the Endless Summer Boutique event. Vendor displays included handcrafted jewelry and accessories by Lucy’s Galleria, interchangeable handbags by Miche, and dangling customized charms presented by Origami Owl. The Endless Summer Boutique helps raise money for those living with diabetes. Vendors and visitors had the chance to participate in raffle giveaways, with all prizes donated by the vendors. Home Style BBQ and Catering also served barbecue and side dishes. Louis Tamayo, host and coordinator of the Endless Summer Boutique Event, has been living with diabetes for the past 20 years. “I wanted to present an event such as this to the community to help support and raise money, especially for those who are part of my team, called Team Fight! Fight! Fight!—Riverside’s own Step Out Diabetes Committee,” he said. As team captain, Tomayo explained, “As a former outreach spokesperson for Moreno Valley College, I wanted to do something else to help those who are also diagnosed with diabetes like me. I really wanted and needed something to do, and what better way to do it by simply helping others?” Though it was a day for shopping endlessly, everyone came together for the purpose to raise funds as well as grow awareness about the disease. This Step Out Diabetes Fundraiser is held every second Saturday of the month at the Norton Younglove Community Center, and every fourth Saturday at the REC Center located in Grand Terrace.
