COLTON >> The 2nd P.A.W.S. in the Park Pet Adoption & Wellness Support event took place on Saturday April 30th at the Colton Community Center. It is an annual event pairing local pet related businesses and community involvements among puppy lovers. Originally scheduled at the Fleming Park, the event was moved to the community center due to the rainy weather. P.A.W.S. in the Park is free to the public and sponsored by local animal organizations and businesses, who share the same passion for supporting our furry friends. Over 15 vendors participated at the event to promote their programs and offer exclusive services including low cost vaccinations and other wellness support. The volunteers performed various demos from simple dog training to service dog demonstrations. The event attendees and their furry friends socialized and had a lot of fun participating in activities and the pet parade. In the patio area, animal rescue groups offered pet adoption services while raising awareness about caring for animals in need. An animal rescue adoption group named GreySave brought their beautiful Grey Hounds to meet people and feel the love. "We rescue dogs off the tracks and also the retired ones, we process them as far as getting microchip implantation, neutering, and going to foster care. All the donations go to the medical funds because some of them were injured, and then we match these wonderful pets to families after they go through all the adoption procedures." said Susan Heisler, a volunteer and foster parent of Grey Hounds. "There are a lot of adoptions made here today and the best thing is to see how many people who actually came to the event to show their support. We had to move from the Fleming Park to another location, but nothing could stop us." said Marisa Sierra, who volunteered at the P.A.W.S. in the Park event.
