Dear Editor,

I am writing you to make a case for some help.  I am a resident, I bought my house 1 yr ago, on Royal Ave in Grand Terrace. Had I known my quality of life would be affected so much I would of NEVER bought my house.

I live directly behind the Grand Terrace High School (directly behind the baseball field). I enjoy and support the school, however the school has now after 4 years put together their school band.

The band practice is so disruptive to all the neighbors on my street that we cannot even leave our windows open, let alone have any kind of parties and such in our back yards. Some neighbors have taken audio of how bad the noise really is.  The noise level is so loud that many times even closing my house up completely does no good to escape the volume of the band.

Most of the time the band practice begins in October, however this year we were blessed to have it begin in the summer. The summer party I had was a total loss due to the deafening noise.

I tried calling the City of Grand Terrace this past June, they asked I try and work with the school.  I called the school and left numerous messages in length about the noise. I never received a call back. I called the sheriff's dept. and the dispatch person was shocked at how loud it was coming through the phone.  I watched the Sheriff drive through and never stop to talk to anyone.

I have talked with many neighbors, and all agree that this noise level has to  stop.  You will be getting plenty of emails over the next few weeks.

I plead with you to help assist us in coming to some kind of reasonable agreement with the school on when, and where to have their band practice.

Thank

 Mitzi Young

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
