COLTON>> The community is invited to participate in two free Family Fun Resource Fairs, featuring information for families about the services offered in their community, as well as performances, food and giveaways. The event is put on by the Colton Joint Unified School District Student Services department. The events will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 at Joe Baca Middle School in Bloomington and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at Cooley Ranch Elementary School in Colton. These annual events offer a venue where families can enjoy a variety of entertainment and also find information about college and career readiness; physical and mental health resources; early childhood education; public safety; libraries and nutrition. The entertainment for this year's events will have a DJ and a wide of range of performances for the families of the community to enjoy. Those attending will be able to participate in a raffle for a free bike. Also for those who attend, the event will be giving away free books and face painting. “We feel it is important to empower our families and connect them to resources available in the community,” said Patricia Carrasco, CJUSD Enrollment Specialist and Foster/Homeless Liaison. Carrasco continues on to state that they want to give families the opportunity to utilize the service the community has to offer by being the "middleman" in the community. Businesses and organizations that have information to share with families are welcome to apply for a booth by contacting Kathleen Moreno at 909-580-6517; Esperanza Mora at 909-580-6519 or Patricia Carrasco at 909-580-6580.
