The Greek Theatre twinkled with lights on Dec. 12, during the first annual Winter Concert sponsored by the Associated Student Government (ASG) of San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC). Students and community members alike came out to enjoy the free entertainment and good food provided by the ASG. “Associated Student Government puts on events like this to connect SBVC’s students to the community,” said an ASG representative. "We love to get the community involved with the students. The ASG was successful as several families and community members gathered on campus to get into the holiday spirit and support and encourage the student performers." There was plenty of free food provided by the Corner Bakery and participants were invited to partake in a second round of food. Children ran around with faces painted, played games like basketball, and created Christmas-themed crafts. Santa Claus was also at the Greek Theatre, taking pictures with the children and chasing away SBVC’s mascot, the wolverine, who threatened to steal all the Christmas gifts. It was playful entertainment for the kids, who squealed with laughter when Santa saved the day. Entertainment was the center of the event with 10 different acts, including solo artists, bands, duets and dancers. All entertainers performed holiday music and audience members sang along to Christmas classics such as “Let it Snow" and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Performers were SBVC students. “I thought that the music was great,” said Felix Monterrossa, an SBVC student who was enjoying the festive Winter Concert. "It was inspiring to see fellow students up there doing what they love to do. If they have it again next year, I’m definitely going to come back.”
