Devin Flores of Vista del Lago High School has been named a School Winner for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, which highlights exceptional high school seniors and their achievements in the classroom, on the field and in the community. For 22 years, Wendy’s, in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy, has recognized outstanding students and rewarded their commitment and achievements to academics, athletics and community on a national level. Flores was selected as 2015 School Winner based on the following accomplishments. Devin Flores puts the “pro” in professional student. He has not only juggled a rigorous academic load, but he is also very involved on campus with several programs. He is an AVID student and has been a part of AVID Club for the past three years. Devin is the embodiment of what AVID stands for: Advancement Via Individual Determination. He wants to better his life for his family and himself through his own determination and dedication to succeed. Devin was also a member of the basketball team, where he has received numerous awards, such as Highest Basketball GPA and Coaches Award. He also volunteers, giving back to his community in his free time.
