Last weekend the June is Jumpin' event welcomed the community out for fun and memories during a free community car show for pre-1973 cars took place. Event coordinator, Adrian Asencio (A.K.A. "Double "A" the DJ") shared, "Last year the car show had 90 registered cars and this year there are over 100! The amount of cars grow every year!" He and his wife Jane Asencio helped organize the event. Asencio shared, "this year's theme is Hawaiian. So the best Hawaiian themed cars and the best cars will win trophies sponsored by the City of Redlands." "There is a good turnout of cars compared to other car shows," Joseph Chan says from his vendor Shuck It. Participants of the car show Chuck and Debbie Pine said, "We have been coming to the car show for 4 years.. It's a clean, friendly, and fun place." Ever since they heard about the event from their friend Joe Frank, who is also a participant in the event, they have been there every year. Ken Pupp, an attendee of the June is Jumpin' drove down from Beaumont to check out the event. While watching The Tornadoes and eating corn on a cob, Pupp says, "I heard about this event from one of my friends. He sent me the information on Facebook. I love surfing so I wanted to check this out." There were so many people at the event that Adrian Asencio says he is considering scheduling the event for twice a year, instead of once a year. The winners for the best cars are: Randy and Ellen Scott with their '66 Chevelle Sandy Moody with his '23 Ford model T-PU Marty Still with his '32 Ford Roadster The winners for the best surf theme are: James Drice with his '69 Volkswagon Bus Camper Clam Lagrose with his PT Cruiser June is Jumpin’ kicked off the popular series of summer events that have and are scheduled to take place in Redlands, including Surfin’ State Street, Movies in the Park, and a new event this year, the Downtown Art Walk & Crab Boil. Bands include Sam Marsey, Kiksim Crux, Summon the Yeti, and the Great Late. The event features local artists such as: James McClung, Aeron Brown, Christine Coates, John Brownfield, Skool Boiz, Nick Bahula, Frank Perez, Rob Mardis, Owen Klass, Jean Hall, Tom Fontanes, Christine White, Paige Lyman, Tim Silvis and many, many more. A Shop Called Quest also has an entire alley of street artists.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
