Voice of the People: Jolstead vs. Stephens

When 59-year old, 5’-11”, 180 lb. semi-retired Mark Jolstead opened his front door December 10, 2013 to 41-year old, 6’-1”, 250+ lb. Ryan Stephens after Stephens warning by posting on Facebook 92313 that he was driving to Jolstead’s house because of a heated discussion on Facebook about what happened before the Measure “C” election, Jolstead told me that he thought the most that would happen would be that Stephens would try and persuade Jolstead how wrong he was. But according to Jolstead things got heated in a hurry. Within a couple of sentences, Stephens was venting months of frustration about the failure of Measure “C” with such vehemence that Jolstead said he almost couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Accusations against “Friends of Grand Terrace” (No on Measure C) in particular Doug Wilson and Jeffery McConnell, flew for several minutes as the younger (Pro Measure C) Stephens backed Jolstead into a corner. Friends and family members witnessed the altercation. Jolstead said he warned Stephens not to step into him five times before he felt threatened enough to have to defend himself. Sounds just like Mayor Walt verbally confronting veteran Anthony Grande back in October for exercising his freedom of speech handing out flyers. Walt is supporting Stephens for the empty Council seat. Tell your council representatives we don’t need two hotheads on the council. The voters said NO! in November and now voters need representation on the council to see the people’s will carried through. No more fraudulently hiding money from the people!
