GRAND TERRACE>>Grand Terrace Mayor Darcy McNaboe presented the City of Grand Terrace’s State of the City Address. The Mayor said the state of the City was on solid ground as she referenced the City’s 2030 vision plan which laid out 5 pillars of a strong community. The 2030 Vision focused on: Ensure Our Fiscal Viability, Maintain Public Safety and Infrastructure, Promote Economic Development, Implementation of Successful Partnerships and Engage in Proactive Communications. The Mayor used a visually stunning PowerPoint to showcase the goals of the City in action. The Mayor highlighted our fiscal strength as the City paid off the City Hall loan last February saving over $50,000 in interest. She also mentioned the City’s recent implementation of sidewalk repairs, tree trimming and over $1,000,000 in future road repairs. The crowd also received notice that April starts the implementation of a second 40 hour a week police officer. The additional officer will increase the number of hours to two deputies assigned to patrol in the City. The Mayor also highlighted last year’s youth summer camp, swim program, and a very successful tree lighting ceremony at Christmas as examples of successful partnerships that are occurring within the City of Grand Terrace. The Mayor also promised more fruitful programs from additional partnerships, such as the City’s dog park opening in 2017 and a future Blue Mt. park trail head. Finally, the Mayor discussed the number of economic development projects that are starting to take place as the City sells its former redevelopment land. The Mayor highlighted the former Stringfield property next to McDonald’s and the 55 acres near the I-215 Freeway. T he Mayor also talked about the $92,000,000 facelift to the entrance to the City. The Barton Rd interchange project will have a roundabout and improve circulation on Barton Rd. The event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and its partners.
