MORENO VALLEY>> Dr. Denise Fleming has officially begun her campaign to become mayor of Moreno Valley. She recently signed the papers and was sworn in as a candidate by Interim City Clerk Marie Macias. Fleming said she was pleased to see the way her campaign was developing. “We are going to run a grassroots campaign focusing on important local issues,” she said. Fleming, a Navy veteran, has leadership experience. She currently serves as vice president of the Moreno Valley School board. She has also worked for Moreno Valley schools’ business office and is active with the African American Coalition, the Parkview Community Hospital Advisory Board and was appointed by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to the In Home Support Services Advisory Board. Fleming said she wants to focus on pressing local issues. The three most important issues she identified are developing a healthy, robust local economy, provide safe streets and encourage community spirit.
