This football season, Community Christian College will be coached and pioneered by San Bernardino Native, Jasmine Ray. Ray was asked to be Head Coach of the community college, located in Redlands earlier this year and was excited about the opportunity stating, “I want to pay it forward and present opportunities to local students and anybody looking for a chance.”

Coach Ray began her athletic career at San Bernardino High School being part of the Cardinal’s basketball and track and team program. After graduation, Ray attended San Bernardino Valley College for a year, playing for the women’s basketball team, but then shortly transferred to the University of Hawaii at Manoa to continue her collegiate basketball career.

It was at Lincoln University of Missouri where Coach Ray graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism, where she played for the women’s basketball team, and where she marched with the Marching Musical Storm playing the tuba.

Coach Ray already having experience coaching youth sports, is excited for the opportunity to grow the program at CCC, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NCJAA) Division I team, recruiting athletes locally and from other states. “We have players from here, San Bernardino High School, others coming from Los Angeles, and even Las Vegas,” said Coach Ray. “There are some skilled guys, and they are real characters.”

Along with her confidence within the team, Coach Ray feels strongly supported by the administration and faculty at CCC, “The staff here is amazing. On the education part, I am all for study hall for every sport, but I can’t take credit for it. It’s those in the office that make it happen.”

Coach Ray, along with the coaching staff at the local community college are dedicated to the growth of their players both academically and athletically. “When they leave this college, they will have a degree,” said Coach Ray. “And they’ll be seen by scouts and simply get scholarships to continue on with their education and their lives.”

Coaching staff for the football program at CCC along with Coach Ray include Salean Gary, Hakeem Moore, Mark Coleman, Ryan Chavez, Gene Gamson, Dennis Aceves, Steven Williams, and Antoine Osbourne.
