Semi-Annual Installation

Job’s Daughters Bethel 35 in Moreno Valley on June 4 held their semi-annual Installation of Officers in a formal public ceremony at the Montee Masonic Center. Following the chosen theme—Hawaiian-centered, based on the idea that “Ohana means Family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten” from Disney’s “Lilo and Stitch”—a reception featuring Hawaiian barbecue was held after the ceremony. “The heads of all the concordant bodies were present, truly embracing the family theme,” said Annette Stauber, the Presiding Counselor with the organization’s adult council—simply known as “the council.” The installation ceremonies happen twice a year, shared Stauber, once in June and again in December. The current six-month term will be presided over by Savanah Moore, junior princess, and her corps of officers: Desiree Dernoncourt, Lucia Estrella, Lerenia Galba-Bright, Tabitha Lett, Arianne Moore and Korie Prefontaine. The officers were formally introduced, and after having agreed to their duties, a proclamation was read to duly install each officer. The officers are responsible for the planning and executing of organization events, which Stauber feels helps prepare them for responsibilities in adult life. “Job’s Daughters teaches girls about parliamentary procedures, so that it’s easier for them to go on and be involved in other community organizations and politics,” Stauber said. “There are very few places in society today where things are done formally in this way for kids, so some things, like say, running for city council, are foreign to them when they get older, but the procedures are not new for our girls.” Additionally, members participate in community service and other events. This term, the officers will participate in Macy’s Shop for a Cause event in August. Job’s Daughters International is a Masonic-sponsored youth organization for young women aged 10 through 20. This year, the organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Moreno Valley, and is currently searching for alumnae. Women who were a Job’s Daughter in Moreno Valley may contact 909-255-2202.
