Moreno Valley residents looking for a refreshing way to get outdoors, enjoy the approaching fall season and add some movement to their weekend are invited to take part in a relaxed morning walk through Hidden Springs on Saturday, September 12.

The community walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Hidden Springs Park, located at 9675 Hidden Springs Drive. The approximately 4.8-mile route is rated easy and is mostly flat, making it suitable for participants of a variety of fitness levels.

Rather than focusing on speed or competition, the morning outing offers residents an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors at a comfortable pace. With an early start, participants can experience the Hidden Springs area during the cooler morning hours while getting some exercise and spending time in the community.

Organizers encourage walkers to come prepared for the nearly five-mile outing. Participants should bring plenty of water, a snack and sun protection and wear comfortable walking shoes.

The walk provides a simple way for residents to make use of Moreno Valley's outdoor recreational spaces while incorporating physical activity into their weekend. Walking can also be an accessible form of exercise for people who may not participate in more strenuous recreational activities.

The timing of the event comes as Southern California begins transitioning toward fall, when cooler mornings can make outdoor activities especially inviting. For residents who have wanted to explore more of the community on foot, the Hidden Springs walk offers an organized opportunity to do so.

Participants should meet at Hidden Springs Park at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12. The route is approximately 4.8 miles and has an easy hike rating.

Walkers are reminded that even during the morning hours, Southern California temperatures and sun exposure can be significant. Bringing water and sun protection and dressing appropriately for the conditions can help make the outing more comfortable.

For additional information about Moreno Valley parks and recreation opportunities, residents can visit the City of Moreno Valley's parks website or call 951-413-3280.

Event Details: Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 a.m. at Hidden Springs Park, 9675 Hidden Springs Drive, Moreno Valley. Distance: approximately 4.8 miles. Difficulty: Easy.

An October City announcement draws attention to an everyday household practice with benefits for food budgets, kitchen safety and the environment. A basket of fresh produce can represent a week's worth of meals, the results of a successful backyard harvest or an unexpected bargain at the grocery store. Yet without proper storage, even the freshest fruits and vegetables can spoil before a family has an opportunity to use them.

An October announcement highlights how investigative technology and cooperation among law enforcement agencies can help solve crimes affecting Grand Terrace neighborhoods. For residents of Grand Terrace, home is more than an address. It is where families gather, children grow up and neighbors build relationships over many years. When a residential burglary occurs, the effects can extend beyond the property taken or damage caused. A crime inside someone's home can undermine the sense of security that makes a neighborhood feel safe.

The rumble of a commercial truck passing through a city can represent two very different things. For a business awaiting a delivery, it may signal the arrival of essential supplies. For residents living near a busy roadway, it may raise concerns about traffic, noise and safety. In Grand Terrace, finding a reasonable balance between those interests is at the center of an ongoing transportation planning effort.
