Over 300,000 children in Riverside County are gearing up for the upcoming school year. As families begin their annual hunt for school supplies, the financial strain can be overwhelming for many. Riverside County Department of Child Support Services (RivCoDCSS) is here to help.

August marks Child Support Awareness Month (CSAM), a time to highlight the importance of ensuring that every family, in its unique form, has the resources to provide shelter and safety for their children. RivCoDCSS is committed to offering the solutions and support needed to make this possible.

Join us on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, from 8 AM to 12 PM at the Riverside branch office located at 2081 Iowa Ave, Riverside, CA 92507. Parents seeking resources and support are invited to a day filled with education, information, and community engagement to build brighter futures for local children and families.

The event will feature presentations and educational sessions focused on child support services, community resources, and employment opportunities for job seekers. We will also provide free haircuts, bicycle helmets, and snacks. Each attendee will receive a bag containing Riverside County and local parent resource packets, complete with school supplies. Giveaways will include essential backpack materials for children aged 3-17, such as writing pads, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, and more.

This year, the Backpack Giveaway is generously sponsored by Food 4 Less/Foods Co., which has donated over $13,000 worth of ready-to-eat children's snacks, food, water, school supplies, notebook paper, pencils, crayons, markers, and more. Community Action Partnership of Riverside County provided backpacks and school essentials, and Altura Credit Union provided additional supplies. Local businesses like Salon Success will be offering free haircuts to children, and the California Department of Office Traffic and Safety will distribute helmets at no-cost to children.

This community event celebrates Child Support Awareness Month in August and underscores RivCoDCSS's dedication to serving over 80,000 children and families throughout Riverside County. Last year, RivCoDCSS collected and redistributed over $185 million to families in our community.

Please note that all backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To register and learn more about this event or other upcoming events in Riverside County, please visit www.RivCoDCSS.com
