Eligible San Bernardino County microbusinesses that were adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for $2,500 grants to help defray losses and cover pandemic-related expenses.
Funds for the program come from a $2.5 million grant the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors accepted from the California Office of the Small Business Advocate in January.
In order to qualify for a Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant, a business must have five or fewer employees and must have been in operation before Dec. 31, 2019. In addition, the business’s taxable revenue in 2019 must have been $50,000 or less.
Business owners can use the grants to pay for debt accumulated as a result of the pandemic, costs associated with closures, costs for personal protective equipment (i.e. masks, hand sanitizer, etc.), renewal of local permits to operate, and to purchase new, certified equipment.
County Economic Development officials anticipate that about 1,025 microbusinesses in San Bernardino County will receive grants through the program.
