The upcoming General Election will hold its last voting date on November 8, 2022. For the city of Colton, there are three candidates running for Council Member- District 4 one is Gem Montes.

Here is their statement:

Gem Montes

California Climate Action Corps Fellow

"As the Colton District 4 Council Member, I will direct my attention to the multiple quality of life issues impacting us. For the past 30 years, community service has been a significant part of my life. While on the City of Colton Planning Commission I was inspired to return to college to develop tools to make informed decisions for our community. I graduated from UC Riverside with a BA in Public Policy with focused studies in Urban and Environmental Policy. I was selected as the Carbon Neutrality Initiative Engagement Fellow through the UC Office of the President. This experience highlighted the many challenges that communities face that directly affect our health, finances and homes. With your vote, I will be an elevated voice for District 4, empowering residents and small businesses. This includes spearheading traffic solutions, creative pollution reduction and mitigation efforts and providing resources to the residents amidst the current climate crisis. My focus as Councilmember will include creating more green space, bike routes and recreational space; providing drought mitigation and safe, clean drinking water; and addressing pollution, traffic and fire danger. I can only do this with your support. Vote Gem Montes, Council Member for District 4."
