June 11, 2023 - In a momentous occasion marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the City of Grand Terrace celebrated the official opening of its new Sheriff’s Substation. The event, attended by Mayor Bill Hussey, members of the City Council, and officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, highlighted a significant step forward in bolstering public safety in the community.

Mayor Bill Hussey commended the efforts of all public safety personnel dedicated to ensuring Grand Terrace remains one of the safest cities in the Inland Empire. He expressed gratitude to the Citizen’s Committee for Enhanced Law Enforcement Services for their pivotal role in advocating for additional sheriff’s deputies. Notably, residents will have the opportunity to vote on enhancing Sheriff’s services in the upcoming November election.

Councilmembers echoed Mayor Hussey’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the new substation in enhancing local law enforcement capabilities. Mayor Pro Tem Doug Wilson underscored the strategic location of the facility, adjacent to City Hall, as ideal for fostering closer community ties and operational efficiency.

Councilmember Ken Henderson, who recently celebrated his 40th year as a Grand Terrace resident with his wife, praised the substation as a testament to the community’s achievements. "I can’t thank everyone enough for the hard work that went into making this happen," he remarked. Councilmember Jeff Allen added that he was thankful we now have a substation in Grand Terrace.

Councilmember Michelle Sabino, a staunch advocate for law enforcement, praised the substation’s opening as a milestone that promises enhanced comfort and peace of mind for residents. Her sentiments were echoed by City Manager Konrad Bolowich, who emphasized the substation’s role in keeping deputies readily available within the community for improved response times and community engagement.

Deputy Chief Walker, representing San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus, expressed gratitude to the city leadership for their proactive approach in providing resources that enable deputies to better serve residents. Lieutenant Lane, instrumental in overseeing the project, credited the City Council’s unwavering support for making the substation a reality. Looking ahead, Lane outlined plans for future community engagement initiatives, if funding becomes available, that would include office hours so residents can file reports, ask questions, and have tickets signed off.

This significant addition to Grand Terrace’s public safety infrastructure marks a proactive step towards community safety and collaboration between residents and law enforcement.

The new Sheriff’s Substation is located at 22795 Barton Road
