Grand Terrace is celebrating one of its own as Elysia Christina Fernandez has been named the 2026 Woman of the Year for California’s 58th Assembly District, a prestigious recognition presented by Assemblywoman Leticia Castillo on March 27, 2026.

The honor highlights Fernandez’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication to community service, and her ability to uplift those around her through both professional and volunteer efforts. The award ceremony was held at the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, where an elegant high tea gathering set the stage for an afternoon celebrating impactful women from across the district. Surrounded by lush gardens, flowing fountains, and vibrant floral displays, attendees embraced the occasion with grace and style.

Fernandez’s journey is one that resonates deeply within the local community. She first connected with City News Group (CNG) as a freelance photographer, capturing the spirit of local events through her lens. Her passion for storytelling and her commitment to highlighting community voices quickly expanded her role into both photographer and writer.

"Her growth within CNG reflects a broader truth about Fernandez—her generous heart and community-minded spirit consistently propel her toward greater service and deeper involvement" said Margie Miller publisher of City News Group, "We are very proud of her."

Elysia’s Leadership Across Grand Terrace, contributions to Grand Terrace are both extensive and impactful. She currently serves as:

· President of the Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce

· Member of the Grand Terrace Foundation

· Committee Chair for Cancer for Pinups

· Local business owner, photographer, artist, and mother of three

Through these roles, she has become a driving force behind community initiatives, small business support, and nonprofit engagement. Her presence at local events and her dedication to causes that matter have helped strengthen the fabric of the city.

During the ceremony, Fernandez shared a heartfelt reflection on what the recognition means to her:

A Voice of Inspiration “I was incredibly taken back by the beautiful simplicity of acknowledgment & how it filled my whole universe with joy. I was honored to sit among women like myself with dreams, strengths, the ability to make change. This award means that I can’t stop what I’m doing, because you guys see what I see & I know there’s so much out there we can do.”

Her words captured not only her humility but also her determination to continue serving and inspiring others.

Elysia Christina Fernandez embodies a Lasting Impact is the very essence of what the Woman of the Year recognition represents—leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to community. Her continued involvement in city events and nonprofit efforts ensures her impact will be felt for years to come.

As Grand Terrace celebrates this well-deserved honor, one thing is clear: Fernandez is not slowing down. Instead, she is just getting started—continuing to lead, inspire, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her.
