Kaiser Permanente Awards $731,500 in Community Grants to Benefit Redlands Organizations and others in San Bernardino County

Continuing its strong commitment to supporting the communities it serves, Kaiser Permanente has announced a total of $731,500 in local community health grants for 2024 awarded to 36 organizations in San Bernardino County.

The grants support schools, shelters, community clinics and organizations that deliver programs and services to low-income children, youth, families, seniors, and vulnerable populations throughout San Bernardino County.

“Kaiser Permanente has a mission to help eliminate health disparities and build healthier communities,” said Georgina Garcia, Senior Vice President and Area Manager, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals/Health Plan, San Bernardino County Area. “We are pleased to invest these significant resources to support our amazing, committed partners who work with our under-served populations in San Bernardino County.”

Grants were awarded in the six priority focused areas below:

Access to Care: Access to comprehensive, quality health care services is critical for ensuring quality of life.

  • Al-Shifa Clinic
  • Bloomington Community Health Center (CHS)
  • Sankofa Birthworkers Collective of the Inland Empire (Diversity Uplifts)
  • Lestonnac Free Clinic
  • San Bernardino Fatherhood
  • Symba Center

Housing and Homelessness: Safe and secure housing is essential for the health of individuals and families.

  • Victor Valley Rescue Mission
  • High Desert Homeless Services
  • The Way World Outreach Ministries
  • Lutheran Social services of Southern California
  • Operation Grace
  • Mary's Mercy Center
  • House of Ruth Inc
  • City of Ontario (Housing Services)
  • Foothill Family Shelter
  • The Salvation Army
  • Family Assistance Program

Income and Employment: Economic opportunity provides individuals with jobs, income, a sense of purpose, and opportunities to improve their economic circumstances over time.

Education: Higher levels of education are associated with more healthy behaviors, improved quality of life, and higher life expectancy.

Mental and Behavioral Health: Mental & behavioral health affects all areas of life, including a person’s physical well-being, ability to work and perform well in school, and to participate fully in family and community activities.

Food Insecurity: Food insecurity occurs when people do not have enough resources to meet their basic needs, including having enough food to eat to lead an active, healthy life.
