Councilman Matt Brown

Each council person questioned and admonished Cloud the representative of SCE but Councilman Matt Brown received cheers from the crowd when he stated “…we’re all that. It's going up to 8 hours to restore our energy at any given time... I want to see pressure put on Edison, quite frankly, because these timelines are unacceptable.”

Brown continued “there has been a lot of talk about the Blue Mountain Senior Villas. But it goes beyond that. That's just the highly visible group of people in our community that are impacted. But to be without power for seven days when there's no wind is just unfathomable. I can't believe you guys are letting this happen. You mentioned the transmission project from the desert that brings in a renewable energy to our substation. Did you say that? That project actually increases our risk here in Grand Terrace.? If that transmission line were to go down it would be catastrophic. So that substation and the transmission lines being there are critically important. Across the region. The more utility infrastructure  there is, the higher the risk; that's what I thought you said. To me that means I pay really high rates and I'm paying for that infrastructure that only increases my risk of my power being turned off. So despite what you said about restoration of power. I want to know what the timeline is for hardening the distribution lines in Grand Terrace, and I think that information should be shared with everyone in the city so we know when we can actually have some anticipation of when we'll have reliable power again.”
