Mayor's Message Surge is Coming

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

For weeks we’ve been expecting a surge of Covid-19 hospitalizations in Riverside County.  As I write this week, we are still waiting and still expecting.  While many of us are praying that somehow we can be spared from a surge, all the evidence tells us it’s coming.

Each of us has a critically important role to play right now, and that is to stay home, maintain the 6-foot social distance, and to wash hands regularly and thoroughly.  And if you must leave home for essential travel, you must wear a face covering by order of Riverside County Public Health.

There is no way to sugar-coat the truth of what is coming our way.  We expect many more residents to become infected.  And although, thankfully, most will recover, we know that some people will not survive.  But the more we do the things we know will work to slow the spread of the virus, the more lives we will save.

It’s as simple as that:  Keep doing what we know works and fewer people will die from Covid-19.

Stay strong, MoVal.  We WILL get through this together!
