Each year on Valentine’s Day, Metrolink hosts a series of pop-up station events to thank customers for taking the train. Metrolink representatives greet riders with messages of affirmation and small tokens of appreciation, including swag items and candy favors.

WHAT: Metrolink will celebrate its sixth-annual Customer Appreciation Day this Wednesday by surprising morning customers at six station pop-up events. In a nod to ‘The Eras Tour,’ which swept through Southern California in August, this year’s theme is “Eras: Metrolink & Metrolink Riders,” underscoring the enduring relationship between Metrolink and customers in different phases of their lives as well as the stages of Metrolink’s own three-decade service and brand evolution.

WHEN: Wednesday, February 14, 6-9 a.m.

WHERE: Metrolink will have the largest presence at LA Union Station located at 800 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Additional activations are taking place at:

  • Fullerton Station on the Orange County and 91/Perris Valley lines (6:15-8 a.m. at 120 E. Santa Fe Ave., Fullerton, Calif., 92832)
  • Newhall Station on the Antelope Valley Line (6:15-7:30 a.m. at 24300 Railroad Ave., Santa Clarita, Calif., 91321)
  • Riverside-Downtown Station on the 91/Perris Valley, Riverside, and Inland Empire-Orange County lines (6-7:15 a.m. at 4066 Vine St., Riverside, Calif., 92507)
  • San Bernardino-Downtown Station serving the San Bernardino Line and Arrow service (6-8:30 a.m. at 174 S. E St, San Bernardino, Calif., 92401)
  • Simi Valley Station on the Ventura County Line (6-7:45 a.m. at 5050 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, Calif., 93063)

WHY: Customer Appreciation Day is an opportunity to engage with riders and thank them for choosing Metrolink by infusing positivity into their day.

WHO: Metrolink representatives, including CEO Darren Kettle, and local elected officials will surprise and delight passengers on each of Metrolink’s seven lines. (metrolinktrains.com)

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.

Photo Caption: Crime in San Bernardino has dropped by 30 percent or more throughout the city. One reason is that there are more officers on the streets. The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
