The City of Moreno Valley is launching its first-ever Citizens’ Academy, a six-week civic engagement program designed to give residents a deeper understanding of how their City operates. Approved at the City Council meeting in early September, the program will provide residents with hands-on opportunities to learn about City operations.

The fall 2025 session kicks off October 15 through November 19, with weekly sessions held on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at various City facilities. Participants will enjoy department presentations, behind-the-scenes facility tours, interactive demonstrations, and engaging Q&A sessions with City staff and leadership.

“We are committed to building trust and transparency through open communication with our residents,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “The Citizens’ Academy is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the community to see how City Hall works, connect with our team, and gain knowledge that makes a lasting impact.”

The program is free of charge and includes food and refreshments at each session. It is funded through the Moreno Valley Community Foundation. Participants must be 18 years or older and must reside in or own a business in the City of Moreno Valley.

Applications are due by October 3, and selected participants will be notified by October 7. If interested, apply at moval.org/citizensacademy.
