National Coaches Day is indeed a wonderful opportunity to recognize and appreciate the significant impact that coaches have on personal and professional development. Coaches play a crucial role in helping individuals grow, learn, and excel in various aspects of life. Whether it's in sports, education, or other fields, their guidance and support are invaluable.

In the world of sports, coaches are instrumental in shaping athletes not only as players but also as individuals. They teach valuable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Coaches provide the necessary motivation and expertise to help athletes reach their full potential.

In talking to a few GTHS Football players, starting with Nick Romo #22, “Thank you to all my coaches, they make me a better player and always push me to become better than I am each day at practice.”

“I just want to thank the coaches for staying there with us and not giving up on us. Helping us push through in times we didn’t feel like it. Thankful for never giving up on us and setting the tone for the players on the team.” – Devin Johnson #7

In education, coaches are not limited to sports but extend to academic and career mentors. They help students set and achieve their goals, develop effective study habits, and navigate their academic and professional journeys. These coaches often become lifelong sources of inspiration and guidance.

Mr. Ruiz has made an impact on many GTHS students. Ramses Muñoz #20 said, “I want to thank Mr. Ruiz for keeping GTHS fun and being creative. Such a great man to be with and work with. Love GTHS and I’m thankful to be here.”

In various professional settings, coaches assist also with cheerleaders in honing their skills, improving performance, and achieving their goals to a specific drill. They offer insights, constructive feedback, and strategies for personal growth and success.

A message from one of the Lady Titans in the Titan Pep Squad, Alana Alvarez is, “Thank you Coach Patty & Coach Mac for being the best coaches to not only me but the whole team. You both have been there for us since day one. I appreciate you both and everything you both have done and continue to do for our team.”

National Coaches Day serves as a reminder to express gratitude to these dedicated individuals who invest their time and energy in helping others thrive. Their contributions often extend far beyond the playing field or classroom, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those they coach.

It is very clear that a lot of GTHS students truly appreciate their coaches on and off the field. Here are a few more shout outs to the coaches that have made a difference in our youth.

“Dear Coach Patty, words cannot express how grateful our team is to have you as our coach Your passion for the sport and your commitment to our team have been nothing but short of inspiring Thank you for always pushing us to be the best we can be. I also want to thank Ms. Mac for being the teams advisor and her commitment to the team as well. Our team loves you guys.” – Aremi Alvarez

“I just want to thank all my coaches for the effort they put in the day to day bases and pushing us to be better men on and off the field.” – Exzavior Oliver #30

“Thank you very much for everything coaches for always pushing us to be better and help us understand what to do. I appreciate all the football coaches for making me a better individual on and off the field.” -  Ramses Muñoz

Thank you to all the coaches that have supported my photography hobby also! I appreciate you all that have given me the opportunity to step in to many different sports fields.

So, on this special day, take a moment to acknowledge and thank the coaches who have made a positive difference in your life. Whether it's through a simple thank-you note, a heartfelt conversation, or a public recognition, let them know how much you appreciate their guidance and support.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.

Photo Caption: Crime in San Bernardino has dropped by 30 percent or more throughout the city. One reason is that there are more officers on the streets. The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
