November in the Inland Empire: Gratitude, Gatherings, and Giving Back

As the autumn leaves turn and a cool breeze settles over Southern California, November in the Inland Empire arrives with a spirit of gratitude, community, and reflection. From bustling farmers markets to heartwarming holiday drives, local cities across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties come alive with events that remind us what community is all about.

November kicks off with Veterans Day observances across the region — from solemn ceremonies at city halls to parades honoring local heroes. The Inland Empire has a proud military presence, and communities like Moreno Valley, Colton, and Grand Terrace continue to show their appreciation through annual celebrations and veteran appreciation luncheons.

Residents can also look forward to the start of holiday festivities as cities begin decorating for the season. In Redlands and Riverside, the historic downtown areas begin to sparkle with lights, while the Mission Inn Festival of Lights gears up for its world-famous switch-on ceremony right after Thanksgiving — drawing visitors from all across the state.

November is also a time when local organizations double down on efforts to help those in need. Food drives, coat donations, and Thanksgiving meal distributions can be found in nearly every Inland Empire community. Churches, service clubs, and chambers of commerce partner with businesses to ensure that families have full tables and warm hearts this Thanksgiving season.

The Lions Clubs, Kiwanis, and local Women’s Clubs are among the many groups leading volunteer efforts. “It’s about neighbors helping neighbors,” one volunteer shared at last year’s Grand Terrace canned food drive. “We all do our part to make the holidays brighter.”

Farmers markets from Loma Linda to Yucaipa are overflowing with fresh produce — perfect for fall recipes. Locals can find everything from crisp apples and sweet potatoes to fragrant herbs and local honey. Restaurants throughout the Inland Empire also embrace the season, offering Thanksgiving specials, pumpkin desserts, and warm drinks to enjoy as the temperatures dip.

By month’s end, tree lightings, craft fairs, and holiday parades begin to fill community calendars. The Inland Empire’s sense of togetherness shines brightest during this season — whether through shared meals, acts of kindness, or small-town celebrations that bring people together.

As November unfolds, it serves as a reminder to slow down, give thanks, and appreciate the beauty of community life here in the Inland Empire — where every handshake, smile, and helping hand builds a stronger, brighter future for all.
