Partnership Launches Multiple Neighborhood Health Centers

In light of COVID, many practices are adapting to make health care more convenient and easily accessible. Telemedicine, pharmaceutical deliveries, and increased mental health coverage are all examples of ways healthcare has had to adapt and expand during the pandemic. We know access to this type of care is one of the most important ways we can support our employees, and that is why Amazon has collaborated with national provider Crossover Health to open three health centers in the communities close to our Inland Empire operations facilities.

“Amazon’s top priority is the health and wellness of our employees and we are pleased to offer comprehensive affordable, high-quality in-person health care options along with virtual health services for our employees and their families across the region,” said Derek Rubino, Senior Program Manager, Workplace Health & Safety Special Programs, Amazon. “The Neighborhood Health Center program was first launched in July of 2020, and has now opened health centers across five major metro areas. In addition to providing every Amazon employee and their dependents with access to virtual care, more than 75% of our employees are located within 10 miles of in-person care with this new national program.”

Located in San Bernardino, Moreno Valley, and Eastvale, the facilities provides full-spectrum acute, chronic, and preventive primary care, prescriptions, vaccinations, behavioral health services, physical therapy, health coaching, and care navigation for specialty referrals and diagnostic services. Crossover is also registering to be a vaccination provider participating in the U.S. COVID-19 Vaccination Program and will be able to administer vaccines to eligible Amazon employees according to state and local health agency guidelines, when provided vaccine supply by the state.

For many years, Amazon has invested in providing comprehensive and industry-leading healthcare benefits for our employees and their families, and this is an important addition to that – bringing care options closer to make it more convenient to see a health professional. This reduces travel time, inconvenience and cost, while keeping people safer and healthier. Our employees will have a place close to home and work to go to for quality full comprehensive care where same day or next day appointments will be available and can easily be scheduled around any work shift.

The three health centers are part of a national pilot announced by Amazon in July of last year to establish health centers in five cities throughout the U.S., improving access and care for over 100,000 employees and their families in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Louisville, KY; Detroit, MI; and the Inland Southern California region. If the pilot is successful, the company will look to roll out similar facilities in other cities and states. Amazon is truly committed to addressing the issues, and that’s why the company is at the forefront of how to make healthcare available to its employees and their families in Inland Southern California.
