As summer winds down, athletes at Redlands High School are looking ahead to the exciting fall sports season kicking off this month. Based on the school's website, the Bulldogs have a full slate of competitions planned across football, volleyball, cross country, tennis, golf, and more.

Headlining the lineup is Redlands High varsity football. After posting an impressive 8-3 record last season, the team is hungry for another successful playoff run in 2023. Their season kicked off on September 2 with a decisive 24-14 victory over Pacific Lutheran to start things off strong. While the teams are off to a strong start, the most exciting competitions are yet to come. The varsity football squad has crucial league matches slated for October and November that will determine playoff seeding.

Also generating buzz is the powerhouse girls' volleyball program. The Lady Bulldogs went impressive in Citrus Belt League play last year. Their season kicked off on September 2nd with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Providence Christian. It was a nail-biting match that saw Redlands pull off the win by taking the decisive final set 15-7. Senior setter Paige Sugg will aim to lead the talented squad to another undefeated league season.

In the pool, water polo posted a commanding 29-7 win over rival UC DAVIS as seniors Adam Lambert and Nicolos Fedotov led the offensive onslaught with 4 goals each. This veteran squad has their sights set on winning the tournament this season.

On the pitch, the boy's varsity soccer team has stormed out of the gates this preseason. Last Friday, they secured an impressive 4-1 victory over Bethesda University. Striker Owen Jamieson netted two goals for the Bulldogs, who used their speed and solid midfield play to control the game.

With a string of wins in early matches, the team is looking locked in for league competition. Head Coach Ralph Perez credits his experienced upperclassman and the squad's depth at multiple positions. If the early results are any indication, this could be a special season for Redlands boys soccer.

Cross country is also off to an excellent start, as evidenced by the teams' strong showing at their September 9th home invitational. The Redlands Invitational saw both the men's and women's squads take first as a team.

With sights set on the conference championships, head coach Mike Schmidt has both his men's and women's rosters performing at an elite level out of the gates this season. Redlands Cross Country appears ready for another memorable campaign.

With a full calendar of sports and activities, the Redlands High School community can look forward to an energizing fall season. The crowds cheering Bulldogs sports teams prove this season is already one to remember.

For over 100 years, Redlands High has built traditions of excellence and Bulldog spirit across endeavors. The 2023-2024 season adds the next exciting chapter with talented student-athletes and committed coaches ready to represent their school and town. No matter which team, the season ahead is sure to make their supporters proud.
