San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) has announced that it will be offering free tuition for the Summer 2023 semester. This is part of SBVC's ongoing efforts to make education more accessible and affordable for students in the region.

In addition to free tuition, SBVC has also extended its Books+ program until Spring 2024. The Books+ program provides free textbook rentals and course materials to students, further reducing the cost of education for those who may be struggling financially. “We are always looking for ways to help our students reach their academic goals faster and at the lowest possible cost,” said Interim President Dr. Linda Fontanilla. “Our hope is that by offering free tuition and book rentals, more students will take advantage of this limited-time opportunity to earn their degree or certificate and enter a rewarding career in our globalized economy.”

The free tuition program this summer will waive most of the fees related to attendance at SBVC, covering the state community college tuition rate of $46 per unit, which constitutes the greatest part of the cost of enrollment. Not covered are student registration fees, which range from $34 to $44 in total, depending on the number of units a student takes.

The Books+ program has been a huge success since it was first introduced, with many students praising the initiative for helping them save money on textbooks and other course materials. By extending the program until Spring 2024, SBVC is ensuring that even more students can benefit from this valuable resource.

All students are eligible for free tuition by simply registering for classes this summer. The college has developed a special portal to help new students navigate applying and registering for classes at www.valleycollege.edu/go. More information about free tuition and the Books+ program is available at www.valleycollege.edu/free.
