On March 10th, at approximately 11:01 p.m., the San Bernardino Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance involving a weapon in the 200 block of E 4th street. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the 31-year-old armed suspect in the area of 4th and Allen St. The suspect was agitated and yelling at officers while holding a weapon. Officers attempted to calm the suspect down and repeatedly asked him to put the weapon down, which only escalated the suspect’s actions further. Officers then deployed less-lethal beanbag rounds and tried to tase the suspect; both tactics proving to be ineffective. The suspect then attempted to cause great bodily injury to an officer, which led the backing officer to fire their duty-weapon, striking the suspect.

Medical aid was provided by officers on scene while an ambulance was summoned. The suspect was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:25 a.m. This is still a very active investigation and any further information will be released as it becomes available.

If you have any information about this case, please call the detective bureau at (909) 384-5616.
