The County of Riverside is proud to join communities across the nation in recognizing Small Business Saturday that took place on November 25.

The County of Riverside celebrates small businesses throughout the year, recognizing the importance of supporting local businesses in our region’s economy. This past week the first floor of the County Administrative Center was filled with scented candles, jewelry and knits, among other unique products, giving employees and residents a convenient way to shop at mom-and-pop stores. A portion of the proceeds went towards the county’s employee giving campaign which supports area nonprofits.

“This was a huge success. It was an opportunity for vendors to network with Riverside County employees, build distribution lists and long-time customers,” said Tanya Harris, Riverside County assistant auditor-controller.

Small businesses in Riverside County make up 96.4% of the nearly 77,000 local businesses and generated $11 million in quarterly payroll. They are a key driver of Riverside County’s economy.

Board Chair Kevin Jeffries, First District Supervisor expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming Small Business Saturday, stating, "Our local businesses are the heart and soul of Riverside County. Small Business Saturday is an opportunity for us all to show our support and appreciation for these entrepreneurs who work tirelessly to provide exceptional products and services."
