On Friday, January 8, 2021, at approximately 5:42 p.m., Adame was in the area with his family sledding in the snow. Adame became separated from his family and could not find them. His family was able to call 911 and give Adame’s last known location. Sheriff’s helicopter 40King5 responded to the location and conducted a search for Adame but were unable to locate him. Ground search and rescue personnel were requested to assist with the search.
Search and rescue teams located Adame early the next morning. Ground personnel were unable to hike Adame out due to his condition and requested a hoist rescue. Sheriff’s helicopter 40King4 responded to the location and assisted by performing a hoist rescue. Adame was hoisted from the location and was flown to awaiting paramedics, where he was treated for hypothermia.
