LOS ANGELES In response to the closure of a fire-damaged section of the I-10 freeway in downtown Los Angeles over the weekend, Metrolink will provide expanded service along the San Bernardino Line beginning Monday, Nov. 13. Metrolink will continue to monitor the closure’s impact across its system and may increase capacity on other lines if needed.

WHAT: Beginning tomorrow, Nov. 13, Metrolink will increase capacity and run added service on the San Bernardino Line to ensure travel from the Inland Empire to downtown Los Angeles remains accessible. Six extra trains in each direction – three in the morning and three across the afternoon and evening – will connect L.A. Union Station and Covina Station, making all stops in between. Extra passenger cars are also being added to San Bernardino Line trains.

Temporary roundtrip service between L.A. Union Station and the Covina Station will run on the below schedule:

  • Departing L.A. Union Station at 5:50 a.m., 8:08 a.m., 10:38 a.m., 1:38 p.m., 4:22 p.m. and 6:23 p.m.
  • Departing Covina at 6:59 a.m., 9:11 a.m., 11:44 a.m., 3:11 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

WHEN: Enhanced service will begin Monday, Nov. 13

WHERE: Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line service area

WHY: On Saturday, Nov. 11, a mile-long stretch of the I-10 freeway in downtown Los Angeles was closed due to fire damage. The impacted corridor is a critical thoroughfare for commuters and averages more than 300,000 vehicles daily. Additional service on Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line will help alleviate traffic congestion caused by the closure and provide travelers who need to access downtown Los Angeles a safe and convenient transit option to reach their destinations.

WHO: Weekday commuters and visitors to downtown Los Angeles can take advantage of increased service on Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line to avoid anticipated roadway congestion and delays. Metrolink ticketholders enjoy free connections to all LA Metro train lines and buses.
