The Spinet Music Organization Presents “Pianos Plus”

The Spinet Music Organization in partnership with the A.K. Smiley Public Library presents “Pianos Plus,” an eight-hand quartet performing on the Contemporary Club's two grand pianos. This special program is part of the Spinet Music Organization's Monthly series. The series will begin on Tuesday, February 19, 7:00 pm at The A.K. Smiley Library Contemporary Club.

Mary Lou Jones has lived, worked, and played in the Redlands area for 30 years.  She has participated in a wide variety of organizations and groups.  The First Presbyterian Church holds a high priority on her time.  She has served as president of Spinet, Forum, PEO, and Citrus Reciprocity.  She was employed as executive director of the Redlands Symphony Association in its formative years, in community relations at Plymouth Village, and as Community Services Coordinator for the Emergency Housing Consortium in San Jose.  She has sung with a number of choral groups and continues to love her piano performance opportunities.

Sally Rehfeldt, a recent past-president of The Spinet, is organist for Community Presbyterian Church of Redlands. She was organist for First Presbyterian Church of Redlands for 40 years and also directed the church's bell choir. She also plays for many weddings at the Edwards Mansion Chapel, in addition to teaching private piano lessons.

Toni Spagnola is a graduate of Cal State University L.A. and is a past recipient of the Alumni Award of Merit for giving distinguished service to the university and the community. At Cal State she was her involvement with The Friends of Music, helping in many capacities to raise funds for music scholarships. A former resident of Pasadena, Toni also served as executive director of the Pasadena Pops Orchestra. Since moving to Redlands, she has accompanied choirs for the Redlands Unified School District, as well as maintained a home studio -teaching piano. She also accompanies ballet classes at Riverside Ballet Arts, where she additionally plays for master classes with nationally renowned ballet artists-.  She is a former musical director for several productions at the McCallum and Annenberg Theatres, as well as Pasadena Community College, the Shakespeare League of Pasadena, and Rialto Community Playhouse. Toni also contracts entertainment, as owner of "The Music Source," which provides music and variety entertainment for private and corporate events.

Nelda Stuck, Spinet president 1986-88, is retired from 22 years as Community and Arts editor of the Redlands Daily Facts where she wrote hundreds of music and theater reviews and feature articles. For 30 years before that she taught private piano students, accompanied choirs, singers and instrumentalists, and served two years as chapel organist and children's choir director for George Air Force Base. She rings handbells at First Congregational Church of Redlands and is accompanist for the new Clarion Children's Choir.
