We are giving away $1,000 every month this year! You can win $1,000 this month at no purchase necessary, just visit www.citynewsgroup.com and enter to win!

March’s $1,000 prize winner is Mary “Katey” Moetell, resident of Grand Terrace. Moetell was very excited to learn that she had won $1,000 from the Click-N-Win Sweepstakes and could even feel shivers go up and down her legs when she learned of the news.

“Once again as you tell me, I’m getting goosebumps on my legs,” Moetell said. “I text my sister and told her that I received a phone call that I won $1,000, she said, ‘are you sure?’”

Yes! Moetell won $1,000 and you have the chance to win too! Visit us online and search for the bag of money on our local business advertisements, click on each ad, enter your contact information and win! No purchase necessary. You may enter every day on every ad with the bag of money icon to increase your chances of winning. We will announce the winner for the month of April on May 1st.

Moetell has worked as a Transition Kindergarten teacher at Henry Elementary School for 33 years and helps her students get prepared for Kindergarten. Moetell helps her students learn their letters, numbers, shapes, sounds and days of the week and months of the year.

As Moetell accepted her $1,000 check, she glanced down at it and smiled saying, “I know exactly what this is going towards.”

When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit our state, the governor placed restrictions and ordered all non-essential businesses and institutions to stop work and gatherings. Moetell mentioned that this was one of the hardest moments for her because being a teacher she continued her lessons through distance learning, leaving her no reason to go anywhere or use her car.

“The first time I went somewhere after the shutdown, my car wouldn’t start because I hadn’t driven for 3 weeks,” Moetell said. “So now every other week or so, I make sure I go out. Well lately I’ve had more trouble, I didn’t know if I was going to get here today.”

Hopefully the extra $1,000 in Moetell’s pocket will help cover most of the cost to repair her car and help alleviate that burden so Moetell may focus on her love for teaching.

“For me, I like to be silly,” Moetell said.” “So we sing and we dance every single day. We are distance learning, and I sit in my little office classroom and teach wherever they are.”

The pandemic may have impacted many of our local residents, whether with their health, bills, or even new situations no one could plan for that may have aroused due to the pandemic like Moetell’s car troubles. We hope that this sweepstakes provides the opportunity for anyone to have some extra financial help or to simply have some fun.

City News Group started this Click and Win Sweepstakes in March of 2020 when COVID first hit our community. We wanted to help the local businesses stay in business and in December for our $1,000 grand prize giveaway, we wanted to help a family have a nice Christmas! So, we got our heads together and came up with this program for the community.

We know how hard the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives and this program allows City News Group to share and show some positivity to local businesses and to all of the members in the community.

Thank you for going online. Thank you for looking at your local business’ ads. Be sure to share what local businesses you would like to see participate! And please visit our advertisers and tell them how much you appreciate them participating.
