Last week, the City Council and I had the honor of delivering our annual State of the City Address, celebrating our community’s remarkable progress and amazing accomplishments over the past 12 months.

This year’s theme, “People, Pride, and Progress,” truly encapsulates what makes Moreno Valley unique. As residents, you are the heart of our community, and your dedication and unity have driven our tremendous progress. Together, we have transformed our City, showcasing the power of innovation and collaboration.

Key highlights from the address include transformative infrastructure improvements like the completion of our $50 million Pavement Rehabilitation Program and the expansion of our electric vehicle fleet.

We also discussed our continued focus and investment in public safety, and the $6 million Parks Rehabilitation and Refurbishment Project, which is making significant improvements to all of our parks throughout the City.

We marked our 13th consecutive balanced budget and touched upon our educational programs and partnership with local schools and colleges, which ensure our students receive top-tier education.

During the event, we also recognized local leaders, movers, and shakers who have made a positive impact over the past year with the Community Leadership Awards. Congrats to this year’s award winners:

• Family Service Association (Community Non-Profit Partner of the Year).

• SoCal United Way (Community Contributor of the Year)

• Riverside University Health System’s Mobile Crisis Response Team (Healthcare Hero).

• Dr. Robin Steinback (Excellence in Education).

• Aldi (Community Business Member of the Year - Large Business).

• Mountain Mike’s Pizza (Community Business Member of the Year - Small Business):

On behalf of my fellow Councilmembers, City staff, Board Members, and Commissioners, I want to thank you for your continued support and dedication to making Moreno Valley a place we proudly call home. Our journey is far from over, and I am excited to see what the future holds for our amazing community.

For those who were not able to attend, the State of the City 2024 address is recorded and available for viewing on the City's YouTube channel.

Photo Caption: Crime in San Bernardino has dropped by 30 percent or more throughout the city. One reason is that there are more officers on the streets. The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
