Arrowhead Parlor #110 of Native Sons of the Golden West recently elected and installed a new group of officers. Vince Laster is the new president, as Evelyn Alexander moves to the Junior Past President’s position. Her last act as president was to recognize Richard McInnis as “Native Son of the Year.” Other new and continuing officers include: First Vice President Eric Sell, Second Vice President Sherry Livingston, Third Vice President Richard McInnis, Marshal Mark Anderson, Inside Sentinel Dee Schnepf-Ewing, Outside Sentinel George Honn, Recording Secretary Garry Devlin, Financial Secretary James Smith, Treasurer Kevin Anderson, and Trustees Ed Slaughter, Carol Robb, and Barbara Kimball. The installation was conducted by DDGP Stephen Faessel and DDGP Byron Wakeham (both Santa Ana #74) and Past President Mike Anderson (Arrowhead #110). The Parlor will suspend its monthly luncheons until fall. The most recent one was held on June 26, with brother and San Bernardino City Councilmember Fred Shorett as the featured speaker. Earlier that same week, Arrowhead #110 dedicated the City of Fontana on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. The dedication team included PGP Jim Smith, Arrowhead Parlor former Presidents Mike Anderson and Garry Devlin, and Board of Supervisor members Josie Gonzalez and Janice Rutherford, who are both also members of Arrowhead #110. The Parlor’s initiation of new members will be on Saturday, July 20 at 3 p.m., followed by a dinner at 5:30 p.m., to mark the Parlor’s 126th anniversary. The cost of the dinner is $15. RSVP by calling Treasurer Kevin Anderson at 909-889-7303. The deadline for reservations is July 17 and reservations are required. The menu includes steak, salad, baked potatoes and cake. The initiation ceremony is open to members only, but friends are invited to the steak dinner. Additionally, Arrowhead Parlor #110 will be busy in the month of August. On August 1, Arrowhead #110 members, brothers from other parlors, and friends are invited to an all-you-can-eat barbecue and baseball game at the Inland Empire 66er’s stadium in San Bernardino. Reservations must be made and paid in advance. The cost is $23. Call Mike Anderson at 909-522-2244 to make your reservation. The deadline for reservation and payment is Monday, July 29. On Sunday, August 4, Arrowhead members will join brothers from around the state at the annual Grand Parlor check presentation at the Cleft Palate Clinic at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica. Beginning August 17, Arrowhead Parlor will resume its monthly breakfasts. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. All brothers, their families, and friends are welcome to participate. The cost will be $5 and the menu will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, coffee and juice. The menu will change monthly, and not every item will be available each month. Both the Anniversary Dinner and Arrowhead Parlor’s breakfasts are held at Brazelton Hall, at the corner of Del Rosa and Date, just south of the 210 freeway, in San Bernardino. On Friday, August 23, Grand Parlor and Arrowhead Parlor will conduct a joint dedication of the Sam J. Racadio library in Highland, in recognition of the San Bernardino County Library’s 100th anniversary. Grand President Dwight Dutschke, Ione Parlor #33, will be in charge of the dedication.
