Time For Change for Homeless Veteran Women and Their Children

The fastest growing segment of the homeless population is female veterans, often with children in tow. Homeless women including female veterans, are overwhelmingly victims of abuse, domestic violence, suffer PTSD, and are often the sole supporters of their children. On this Veteran's Day, Time for Change Foundation is asking for your help in serving homeless women and their children. Since 2002, Time for Change Foundation has been helping homeless women and their children to become self-sufficient. Its founder, Kim Carter, was recently recognized by CNN as a Top 10 CNN Hero. The CNN Heroes is a yearlong initiative that honors everyday people for their selfless, creative efforts to help others. "I found a way out. Ms. Carter and Time for Change Foundation has reunited me with my 5-year-old son, we both are together now and have the opportunity to be a family. I can now say that I am self-sufficient and I have been given the opportunity to reach all dreams I set for myself and, most of all, I have self-respect," said Veronica Zarate, a Time for Change Foundation resident who lost her son due to her homelessness and addiction. There are two ways to help women like Veronica and their children: 1. Help Kim Carter get to the #1 CNN Hero award by voting for her daily until Nov. 16 at www.CNNHeroes.com. The winner will receive $100,000 for her cause. 2. Make a donation to Time for Change Foundation in the name of a veteran or in your own name. Every donation helps a homeless woman to stand on her own.
