Moreno Valley resident Jeffrey Giba will run in the race to represent Moreno Valley’s District 2 this November. “I am committed to listening to the taxpayers,” Giba said. “Through servant leadership and informed decision-making I will listen to you and work hard to improve our great city.” Giba, a resident of Moreno Valley for 31 years and a planning commissioner since 2011, said he feels it’s time the city sees change. “Moreno Valley needs a new vision and representation, both physically and politically. When elected, I will be the catalyst for community dialogue and bring accountability to City Hall.” Giba said he plans to do this in various ways, including giving the city a “new image,” bringing in jobs, increased revenues and improving neighborhoods. Giba explained that his time as a planning commissioner, now serving as the commission’s Chair with “heavy responsibility and acting as the second most responsible decision-making body,” have prepared him to take on the role of councilman. Giba said his focuses include budget stability, relationships with developers, business growth, education, police and fire services. Giba said collaborative efforts with developers “to implement forward and visionary projects” that will keep jobs and tax dollars local, looking at possible department cuts, dependence on citizen volunteers and collaboration with the city, working closely with the school districts and creating a marketing strategy to catapult Moreno Valley “into the spotlight” are other focuses. Born to immigrant parents, Giba said his “diverse background” makes him a good choice for councilman and also “allows…a very unique perspective and voice for my decision-making on behalf of our diverse city population.” Giba is the president and owner of Eclectic Medical Consulting, served with the U.S. Navy for 24 years and taught high school science for 14 years. Giba holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from CSU Fullerton and a master’s degree in educational technologies from California Baptist University. Giba finished, “My story is life-long service.” Giba runs for the seat against eight other candidates, including Charles Roberts, Marcia Amino, Madelene Muntz, Alvin Horn, Glenn Jacobs, Luke Fuller, Core Jackson and Debra Craig.
