Recently, the Grand Terrace Lions Club held their semi-annual pancake breakfast for the community. All funds raised were donated to Boy Scout Troop 40. A total of 500 tickets were sold to patrons and if they were not able to make it to the event, the money was donated to the club. Patrons who did make it out were served sausages, scrambled eggs and, of course, pancakes. Guests ate cafeteria-style, getting to know new people or spending time with their families eating breakfast. Darcy and Jim McNaboe, Ruthanne Christianson, Hugh Grant, and Kirk McVay, amound others were some of the volunteers who helped prepare food for patrons who came to eat breakfast. Al Chavez served as the Kitchen and Bingo Manager and has been a part of the Lions Club for five years. He said he was involved in the organization to, “help the community and to make a better community to live in.” Some of the organizations the Grand Terrace Lions Club supports include California Lions Friends in Sight and the Guide Dogs of the Desert. The Lions Club in Grand Terrace is also celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Felicia Murguia came with her family because her son, Gavin, is in the Boy Scouts and she said, “The food was really good.” Kristine Swertfeger came with her family, 10-year-old Emma and 19-year-old and Anthony, stated, “We come here every year and my son is an Eagle Scout."
