Take Classes at Kicks, Enter to Win $1,000

For 21 years, Kicks Tae Kwon Do has been offering self-defense courses and fostering self-confidence in students through its various martial arts and kickboxing courses. Now, Kicks is giving back to residents in other ways—by giving them a chance to win $1,000 when they take classes and present a coupon, found on page 10 of the monthly coupon book, AdVantage Marketing Inc.’s Shop N’ Win. Kicks has been serving the Colton area since 1993 under the tutelage of founder Grand Master Kit Mattson, who has 38 years of martial arts experience and is a 9th degree black belt. Kicks also has a studio in nearby Riverside, where it has served residents for 14 years, and the business is charter school affiliated. “Between the two studios, we have about 400 students,” said Jeff Becker, a Master Instructor at Kicks–Colton. “We have students anywhere from 3 to 99 years old.” Kicks prides itself on being “The best place in the area for fitness, fun and self-defense,” said Becker, who added that the main goal of the studio is to “change the lives of all our students for the better,” said Becker. “Of course the fitness changes you physically, but also mentally. It promotes confidence, self-esteem, leadership, and we teach bully prevention.” Kicks not only teaches martial artistry, but the studios also offer fitness courses, leadership and personal training. Courses at Kicks can focus on individuals and also cater to families. “We say the family that Kicks together, sticks together,” said Becker. Kicks also stays involved in its communities, often visiting local schools and giving safety presentations and speaking on bully prevention. “There are so many types of bullying,” said Becker. “There’s physical, verbal and cyber-bullying, and we specialize in [combating] all of them. We teach mental confidence and self-esteem. You don’t have to get into a fight to stop bullying, and getting physical is a last resort. We want to teach people to be proud of who [they] are.” Look for the coupon in the October 2013 Shop N’ Win to find out how you can save and receive discounts when you take classes at Kicks. Kicks is located at 2097 E. Washington St., Suite 1F, in Colton, and at 17100 Van Buren Blvd. in Riverside.
