What is the Day of the Dead?

The Day of the Dead (La Dia de Los Muertos), is a holiday celebrated in Latin culture where families commemorate and welcome back the souls of those they have lost. Those honoring the deceased will place offerings on their altars (ofrendas), such as their favorite foods and personal gifts. Music and dance are also used to awaken the souls and reunite families together again. This celebration dates back 3000 years and is continued to be a tradition throughout multiple generations today. Come celebrate your and commemorate departed loved ones on The Day of the Dead at this festive event.

Please join us at the Civic Center Amphitheater to enjoy food and drinks from vendors and our Michelada Garden, shop from local artists/artisans, view altar displays, and dance to live entertainment including Ballet Folklorico performance from Mariachi Divas, and Savor: A Tribute to Santana. We hope to see you there!

For any questions or to participate as an art/craft vendor or display an altar, please email Specialevents@Moval.org
