In a poignant gathering, the community welcomed its newest Councilwoman, Michelle Sabino, with both reverence and gratitude. However, amidst the celebratory atmosphere, Sabino's heartfelt words directed attention towards a somber reality—the sacrifice of those who serve their country.

Addressing the assembled crowd, Sabino's voice carried a weight of solemnity and respect. "I'd be remiss if I did not give honor and respect to those for which we have gathered here today," she began, acknowledging the solemn occasion with grace and reverence. Her words resonated with a deep sense of appreciation for the servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Sabino's tribute took on a personal note as she singled out her friends  Cheryl Rex, a Gold Star mother whose son, Dylan Merola, was lost during the evacuation from Afghanistan. Through this acknowledgment, Sabino extended her condolences to all Gold Star families, recognizing the profound and enduring impact of their loss. In a moment of collective remembrance, she urged the gathering to honor and remember these brave individuals whose service and sacrifice remain eternally imprinted in the fabric of the nation.

But Sabino's tribute did not end with those who made the ultimate sacrifice. She also extended her gratitude to all veterans and active-duty service members, acknowledging the profound challenges they face in service to their country. "For those of you who saw battle...we recognize your sacrifice as well today," she affirmed, highlighting the enduring toll that military service can take on individuals and families alike.

As Sabino concluded her remarks, her message of remembrance and gratitude reverberated throughout the crowd. In a gesture of unity and solidarity, she invited attendees to connect and support one another, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among those gathered.

In addition to honoring the servicemen and women, Sabino took a moment to recognize the dignitaries in attendance, including Mayor Pro Tem Doug Wilson, City Council members Jeff Allen and Mr. Henderson. Their presence served as a testament to the community's unwavering support for those who serve and sacrifice for the greater good.

Sabino's tribute stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices of the brave men and women who serve their country. In her words, we find inspiration to come together as a community, offering support and gratitude to those who have given so much in service to us all.
