Moreno Valley residents are celebrating a one-two punch of park improvements this week with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at Bella Sera Park on September 8, followed by the ribbon-cutting of a brand-new basketball court at Patriot Park on September 9.

“As the City grows, so does our collection of beautiful parks,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “From new playgrounds to brand-new basketball courts, our parks are proof that we’re committed to investing in every neighborhood, for every resident.”

Bella Sera Park Dedication

The City unveiled a new plaque at Bella Sera Park to commemorate the partnership with D.R. Horton, the developer of the surrounding housing tract. The 1.8-acre park features two shaded playgrounds, a full basketball court, a large fitness area, a multi-sport turf field, a walking path, and security lighting throughout the park and along the pathways.

“Whether you’re walking the security-lit paths, getting exercise, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Bella Sera Park is designed for all ages and interests,” said District 3 Councilmember Erlan Gonzalez.

Bella Sera Park was approved in January 2024 as a condition of the development and now stands as a testament to the City’s commitment to enhancing neighborhoods through both public and developer-created parks.

Patriot Park Ribbon-Cutting

The following day, the City cut the ribbon on a new full-size basketball court at Patriot Park in District 4. The park was initially built in 2010 with Community Development Block Grant funds.

“This half-acre park may be small, but it will have a huge impact on our community,” said District 4 Councilmember Cheylynda Barnard. “Patriot Park transformed an area once challenged by crime into a positive, family-friendly space. The new basketball court isn’t just a place for pick-up games; it’s a symbol of growth and unity in our community.”

Residents across Moreno Valley are encouraged to enjoy the new amenities and help care for them so they continue to flourish for years to come.
