It was recently announced that Moreno Valley will welcome Stater Bros. to the northwest corner of Ironwood Avenue and Pigeon Pass Road. The new “Blue Ribbon” Stater Bros. Moreno Valley Supermarket replaces the previously closed Albertsons at this location, and will bring back a full-service supermarket for the large number of residents north of Highway 60. Denielle Annah, a 10-year Moreno Valley resident who lives in the area and was a frequent shopper at the Albertsons before its closing shares, “It will be great to have a closer supermarket so I and my neighbors don’t have to make such a long drive for a gallon of milk or a few groceries. It is also encouraging to see an empty building get filled in this economy.” Stater Bros. expects to take possession of the new store location and begin a major building remodel this coming September. The grand opening for the new, state-of-the-art “Blue Ribbon” Stater Bros. Supermarket is planned before the end of the year. A determined proponent for the supermarket re-opening, District 2 Council Member Richard Stewart saluted the supermarket’s commitment. “I can’t describe the pride I feel when I think of how the community has come together to support this expansion. Stater Bros. will offer our neighborhood residents more choices and more convenience for grocery shopping,” Stewart said. Stater Bros. executives report that the 43,670 sq. ft. Stater Bros. Moreno Valley Supermarket will feature: • A full-service meat department • A self-service beverage bar featuring over 150 flavors of soda, ICEE Drinks, ice teas, espresso, specialty coffees, vanilla latte, and hot cocoa. • A seafood department with seasoning and frying services. • A full-service deli including fried and baked chicken, custom sandwiches, wraps, taco plates, and more. • A bakery with a full selection of artisan breads and rolls, plus ice cream cakes, special occasion cakes and cupcakes. • A floral department for that special gift of fresh flowers, plants or floral arrangements. • A produce department featuring over 800 items with expanded organic selections. The supermarket will also include many environmentally friendly practices, including LED lighting in building signage and refrigerated display cases plus use of glass doors and curtains in refrigerated cases that reduce energy usage by 60 percent; a new lighting system that uses dimming ballasts, energy-efficient lamps and occupancy sensors; an Energy Management System that controls refrigeration, HVAC, Demand Response, and lighting; a Recycling Center located inside for customers to recycle paper and plastic grocery bags; and earth-conscious alternatives such as large grocery bags made with entirely recycled paper and reusable bags for purchase. “Since 1979, Stater Bros. has proudly served the community of Moreno Valley, and the Stater Bros. Supermarket Family is especially proud to offer this modern and environmentally friendly Stater Bros. Supermarket to better serve our long-time and valued Moreno Valley Customers,” shared Jack H. Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros. Mayor Tom Owings shares, “Stater Bros. has been a great community partner providing the highest quality product and service standards to Moreno Valley’s residents for decades. We’re so pleased to welcome them to the north part of town.”
