City Council Recognizes Leno’s Rico Taco as Successful Colton Business

As part of the recent Council Meeting March 18, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González) took the opportunity to present Leno and Liz Moreno, owners of Leno’s Rico Taco, with a “Business Focus” Recognition Award for their successful business operation in the City of Colton. Located at 549 West Valley Blvd, the formal presentation was made on-site where pictures of the well-known location could be added for social media posts.

This long-established business originally started Feb 20, 1991, and has been a mainstay of the Colton business community for 34 years. Just about every single person in the City of Colton knows Leno’s Rico Taco. From being recognized for high quality authentic food to playing a vital role in the cultural life of our community, this business is not only an important business partner but leads the way for community engagement and sponsorships.

In terms of the menu, Leno’s Rico Taco is second to none. In 2012 Leno’s Rico Taco was ranked at the very top by The Sun Newspaper as one the best taco places in the entire Inland Empire. Boasting a huge variety of taco choices, 12 styles in all, the writer of that news article just about convinced DrG to order a beef taco right away when he read the description, even though he only eats vegetarian. The reporter wrote...“Every taco consists of a double 3-inch corn tortilla, with a generous amount of beef filling, and topped with diced onion, cilantro and chopped jalapenos,” and that was just the first sentence! With this description in mind, this is where Leno shines, who often explains saying, “You can’t succeed in a very competitive food industry unless the quality of your product is first rate.”

For those who have visited Leno’s Rico Taco, know this axiom to be true, which is demonstrated in every customer order, and in every bite. Leno has customers coming over and over again, even for decades. DrG himself has been there many times to get a great cup of morning coffee. It’s just a great place to go and with the drive-thru, which was added in 2020, ordering and picking up is quick and easy.

According to Leno, another important point of having a successful business is giving back to the community. For years, Leno’s Rico Taco has been a consistent supporter of school programs, community groups, local firefighters, churches, and community events. The list goes on and on, and anyone who knows Leno Moreno, knows that he is very involved in the community, and with those engagement efforts, he has realized an impressive track record of reaching several business milestones, such as sales, expansion, and city politics; all efforts well-spent in order to help drive the economic engine of our city.

Leno and Liz Moreno, their family and their crew of employees are to be congratulated for their success as a Colton business for 34 years. We certainly look forward to their continued success and look forward to the smell and taste of their quality food items for years to come.

With this presentation the City Council wanted to recognize Leno and Liz Moreno for their hard work, quality food products, great customer service, and excellent reputation, as well as making a valuable contribution to our community and to our local economy. Thank you to Leno’s Rico Taco for operating their business in the City of Colton.
