Murder Mystery Western Theater Dinner Show

On June 28, Moreno Valley Elks Lodge #2697, located in the Canyon Springs Shopping Center on Day Street, presented a Murder Mystery Western Theater Dinner show to raise money for their Major Projects Charity which supports disabled children who have fallen through the cracks. Therapists conduct home visits and have helped hundreds of disabled children and their families. Over $1,300 was made on dinners alone! Over 90 Elk and Community members were in attendance to enjoy dinner and the show. Dinner included finger lickin’ fried chicken, tombstone potatoes, rio grande gravy, silver bullet green beans, Doc Holliday’s hot buns, Betsy’s churned butter and cowboy sweets. The cast included over sixteen amateur players including the director, Sally Brown. Players were living in Deadwood or visiting Deadwood for a Poker Tournament. Each player had multiple motives for murdering Mitch Maverick (Joel Molcan, Inner Guard) who was cheating at poker. The audience had to decide “who done it!” Each table agreed on a murderer and the winning table was awarded a prize. There were twists and turns and funny business throughout the show and the audience was kept in suspense. Audience laughter kept the show lively and entertaining as various players ad-libbed their parts. There was never a dull moment! Moreno Valley Elks plan to present a sequel to this Murder Mystery Western Theater Dinner show. A great time was had by all and the Elk Major Project charity profited. On July 26 the Moreno Valley Elks Lodge will continue to raise money for their Major Project with a Miss Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks contest as men compete as women. Purple piggy banks which have been decorated by members will be judged and emptied with all monies going toward Elks Major Project thus continuing support of disabled children.
