The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) selected four Moreno Valley Unified School District administrators as the ACSA Region XIX Spring Administrators of the Year on May 8, 2023.

“We are so proud of our team for their accomplishments,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora. “These administrators embody our 11 commitments, always striving to be the best they can be in order to support our students.”

The following are the four administrators who were recognized at the celebration dinner:

  • Jessica Ax, Coordinator of the Technology, Innovation & Assessment Department earned the Technology Administrator of the Year Award. These awards recognize outstanding performance and achievement by individual administrators, classified managers, or confidential employees in the area of technology.

  • Marissa Smith, Principal of Mountain View Middle School earned the Valuing Diversity Award. This award is given to an administrator who epitomizes ACSA’s Mission Statement by his/her efforts in promoting diversity and support for all of the children, parents, and staff at their school or district.

  • Jim Burleson, Executive Director of Transportation earned the Ferd J. Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award. The Ferd J. Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award is ACSA's highest honor. The award is named after Ferd. Kiesel, ACSA founding president, a man whose personal commitment to schools and students—and to this association—was exemplary.

  • Nancy Allbee, Principal of Moreno Elementary School earned the Marcus Foster Memorial Award for Administrator Excellence. This award recognizes outstanding leadership and significant contributions to education by a school administrator. It was established to honor the memory of Marcus Foster, superintendent of the Oakland Unified School District.

ACSA is the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the United States, serving more than 17,000 California educators. ACSA’s top priority is advocating for public school students in kindergarten through grade 12, as well as adult learners. Its mission is to be the driving force of education in California and beyond.

“Our school and district administrators work tirelessly to provide the best education, resources, and support for our students,” said School Board President Susan Smith. “We are happy to know they are recognized for their efforts and we are grateful that they are part of our team!”

One of ACSA's priorities is to ensure that school leaders are recognized for their excellence. Through its annual awards program, they honor students, administrators, and community organizations for their achievements and their dedication to public education.

These awards recognize outstanding performance and achievement by individual administrators, given at both regional and state levels.
