The Grand Terrace Lions Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to community service by securing a hunger grant from the California Lions Foundation. This generous grant facilitated the donation of vital equipment to Inland Harvest, a local nonprofit dedicated to addressing food insecurity.

Through the grant of $484 from the California Lions Foundation, the Grand Terrace Lions Club was able to present to Inland Harvest a high quality pallet jack, a convertible hand trunk and work gloves for the volunteer workers during their weekly food distribution on Thursday, April 30, 2024.

The donation of this equipment enhances the operational capabilities of Inland Harvest. The pallet jack and hand truck will help streamline the movement and distribution of large quantities of food, while the gloves will ensure the safety and hygiene of volunteers who handle the food items.

Inland Harvest has expressed profound gratitude for the donation. Cindy Geers, President of the organization, stated "This new equipment will significantly help our food distribution processes. We can now distribute food more efficiently and safely, ensuring that our community receives the support it needs.”

This donation arrives at a critical time, as many families continue to struggle with economic hardships. With these additional assets, Inland Harvest can better serve the community, ensuring that more families receive assistance.

Every week, over 40,000 pounds of produce and other food items are distributed to over 50 community organizations, including food banks, feeding pantries, churches and shelters. The food is, in turn, provided to those in need, positively impacting the lives of an estimated 15,000 families weekly.

The Grand Terrace Lions Club would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the California Lions Foundation for their support through this grant. The Lions Club also commends the dedication and hard work of the Inland Harvest volunteers, whose efforts are crucial in the fight against hunger

Part of Lions Clubs International, a global service organization dedicated to improving communities through various humanitarian efforts, the Grand Terrace Lions Club supports many projects, including vision, youth, senior, hunger relief and other community programs.
